WSOP Online Poker Review

Who Should Try WSOP?

Every poker player in the United States has heard of the World Series of Poker. Aside from being the preeminent poker circuit in the world, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) is also one of the best online poker sites in the country. This WSOP online poker review will share everything you need to know about the app.

The Caesars-owned site operates in New Jersey, Nevada, and Pennsylvania, and has the highest player traffic of any legal site in the nation. WSOP is alone in offering interstate player pooling, whereby players in New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware (via 888) can play against each other.

WSOP launched in Pennsylvania on July 15, 2021 after being approved by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. The site is currently offering special promotions in celebration of its launch in the Keystone State.

WSOP is renowned for its tournament schedule, even offering WSOP gold bracelets for online tournaments. The site also offers online satellite tournaments, which can qualify players for live tournaments. As a result, WSOP is a site for serious players.

WSOP: Bonus and Promotional Grade

Grade: 4.5/5

WSOP offers a competitive signup package. Firstly, WSOP gives new players $10 upon registering for an account. This means that as soon as you have successfully created an account, you will be given $10 to start playing with, free of charge.

While any amount of free money is certainly welcome, WSOP’s somewhat paltry $10 offer is not the high point of its welcome package. Compare, for instance, with BetMGM’s $25 no deposit bonus.

The bonus, however, is attractive in that it requires no deposit. Some sites, such as PokerStars, require a first deposit before providing players with a bonus. In PokerStars’s case, they give $30 in free play only after the first deposit of $20 or more.

WSOP’s match bonus, on the other hand, is as big as first deposit bonuses get. The site offers players a 100% match bonus on first deposits up to $1,000. PokerStars, on the other hand, offers its new players a match bonus of up to $600.

This is paid to players incrementally, giving them back a percentage of what they pay in rake or tournament entry fees. Released in “chunks”, players will have money added to their account once they have passed certain milestones.

If you took advantage of the match bonus with a $100 deposit, you would have to pay $500 total in cash game rake and/or tournament entry fees–a 20% rate–before you recuperated your entire bonus.

It is important to keep in mind that these match bonuses have time limits. WSOP employs a pretty typical 90-day time limit to reach their “playthrough requirement”. This means that if you wanted to maximize your match bonus with a $1,000 deposit, you would need to pay $5,000 in rake within 90 days–which is, well, quite a lot.

While taking advantage of the full extent of the $1,000 maximum offer may only be within the purview of serious players, the offer is still valuable for average players. Since the bonus is paid incrementally, players will still benefit even if they cannot manage the entire playthrough requirement.

WSOP also offers new players two additional promotions. With a minimum $10 first deposit, players will be credited $50 to their account. WSOP also gives new players free tournament tickets during their welcome week.

WSOP: Online Poker Mobile App Grade

Grade: 4/5

WSOP utilizes 888Poker’s software. 888 is a partner site of WSOP, which operates in New Jersey and Delaware. The software, while not the best in the business, is definitely adequate.

Playing on the WSOP mobile app is similar to other apps. There is naturally the inconvenience of the smaller screen, which makes sizing bets and multi-tabling more difficult than on desktop.

Since it is hard to select a precise bet amount on a poker app, players are often limited to selecting predetermined bet sizes, such as “half-pot.” Multi-tabling becomes a real task on an app as well. Players cannot see more than one table at a time, so they must click back and forth between tabs.

That being said, those disadvantages are common to any mobile app. WSOP’s app is fast and reliable. More importantly, the app is easy to navigate. Players should never have a problem finding a game or where to deposit/withdraw.

All in all, WSOP’s poker app is solid, though not premiere. Compared to PokerStars’ top-tier software, WSOP is slightly behind the curve.

WSOP Online Poker: Cash Game Depth and Variety Grade

Grade: 5/5

WSOP is a great site for cash game players. This is in large part due to the site’s interstate player pooling model. WSOP is currently the only site to host players from different states–New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware (via 888)–under one roof.

Naturally, this player pooling model gives WSOP a huge advantage in terms of player traffic. Since the New Jersey merger in 2018, the site has regularly been atop the heap in terms of player traffic.

This means that players can find cash game tables at just about any time of the day. Players will find No-Limit Hold’em games most frequently. NL blinds range from the micro stakes of $.01/.02 up to $100/200.

While No-Limit Hold’em is certainly the most popular game at WSOP, Pot Limit Omaha games are also frequent. PLO games also range from the micro stakes on up. Other cash games, such as Seven Card Stud, can be found, though less frequently than the other variants.

WSOP: Tournament Depth and Variety Grade

Grade: 5/5

WSOP’s tournament schedule also benefits from its large player pool. The site sports daily Multi-table tournaments, with most being No-Limit Hold’em.

For players who don’t mind a bigger buy-in, WSOP has one of the best recurring MTTs in the business. Their Sunday Event boasts a massive $100K guaranteed prize pool for a $320 buy-in.

Even more enticing – WSOP hosts online gold bracelet events. Yes, the same bracelets that the best players in the world compete for. These tournament circuits run at different times throughout the year.

Like WSOP’s competitors, the site also offers single-table tournaments in the Sit & Go and Jackpot SNG formats. WSOP’s Jackpot SNG–called BLAST Poker–is a 3-handed, winner-take-all turbo tournament. Their BLAST Poker also employs a “prize multiplier” which can increase the prize pool by up to 10,000x.

WSOP: Deposit and Cashout Grade

Grade: 4.5/5

Depositing and withdrawing at WSOP is similar to any other online poker site. The site accepts several forms of payment, with debit cards, credit cards, and PayPal being the most common. Deposits are processed almost immediately, so you’ll be able to hit that virtual felt ASAP.

Cashing out at WSOP is also simple, though the processing can take a bit longer. You can receive your winnings via bank deposit, PayPal, or hard check. Overall, depositing and cashing out is pretty standardized across the major poker sites.

WSOP Online Poker Overall Grade

Grade: 4.5/5

Overall, WSOP is one of the best legal online poker sites in the game. It benefits from its multi-state player pooling model, giving the site increased player traffic and appeal. As a result, WSOP offers some of the best online tournaments in the nation.

WSOP’s welcome package, while not exceptional, is above average. For this reason, and the higher level of competition, WSOP is probably a better site for more experienced poker players.

WSOP only falls short in terms of its software. While WSOP’s 888 software is solid, it trails behind PokerStars’ world-renowned software.
